What is special about it

Arbeiterwohlfahrt – AWO for short – is one of the leading welfare associations in Germany. We designed and implemented the new website for the Münsterland-Recklinghausen district with five subdistricts and numerous full-time and voluntary staff.

The central core of the website is the Findmaschine: It helps target groups to search through the more than 400 facilities of the district like daycare centers, counseling or care offers. A job board helps with job searches, with job ads imported from a third-party system via an API and updated hourly.

Comprehensive editorial content on the structure and activities of the district completes the overall picture. To make it as easy as possible for editors, we mainly use individual modules and content elements that are implemented exactly as needed, accompanied by Contao's own bundles and some extensions.

From a single Contao installation, not only the site of the full-time district is updated: The five districts each maintain their own website with their own offers, dates and news.

Content quality is controlled by an approval workflow: new content must be checked by the website administrators before it is published. They are informed daily about changes to content that has already been published. Managers may be asked to check their facilities‘ profile via the back-end.
