TYPOlight 2.7.RC2 is available

by Leo Feyer – Announcements

TYPOlight version 2.7.RC2 is available. The second release candidate will be the last one before the final release. There have been a lot of changes and improvements, so it is likely that your website needs adaptation. Download the package to check what needs to be done, but do not use it for productional websites.

All plugins have been updated

The following plugins have been updated in version 2.7.RC2: mootools to version 1.2, dfGallery to version 2.005, simplepie to version 1.1.3 (the RSS reader module now supports multiple feeds), TCPDF to version 4.5.032 and TinyMCE to version 3.2.2.1. In addition, the UFO Flash plugins has been replaced with SWFObject.

Developers please note that the mootools syntax has changed in version 1.2!

New module "book navigation"

Finally, a book navigation menu has been added to the navigation modules. It allows you to jump to the previous and next page within a nested site structure, just like you were reading a book. If you have never heard about this kind of navigation before, you might be interested in reading this article on wikibooks.org.

Improved search engine control

It is now possible to define the meta robots tag (robots="index, follow") in the site structure to control how search engines handle a page. The new setting is completely independent from the internal TYPOlight search engine, so you can exclude a page from the internal search index and still tell Google to index and follow.

Featured news

The new release includes an option to mark news items as "featured". You can then create a news list module that is limited to those items and e.g. show selected news items (even from different archives) on the front page, while the regular news list with all articles is on a subpage.

Purging data in the personal settings

From version 2.7.RC2, users can purge the image cache and the temporary directory from their personal settings, so you do not have to grant them access to the maintenance module anymore.

New insert tag "iflng"

The "iflng" insert tag allows you to insert language specific content that will be hidden if the page language does not match the tag. It can be used to add language specific content to modules or forms.

Template changes

Version 2.7 includes quite some template modifications that were announced in the forum. Please read the post carefully, because the changes will affect most of the existing installations this time!
