What is special about it

Lernwerk in Windisch supports young people and adults as they enter the job market, provides care for unaccompanied minors seeking asylum, and operates various social enterprises. The organization’s target groups are correspondingly diverse. The website must appeal to participants and their families as well as referring agencies, partners, and donors. At the same time, it should make information accessible in a way that is as user-friendly and understandable as possible.

The website’s design was created by our agency partner mehrwert in Baden. We were responsible for technical leadership, implementation, and ongoing operations. The solution is based on the Contao open-source CMS. Building on the design, we developed a custom theme and several proprietary content elements tailored to the Lernwerk’s requirements.

Each topic area features its own visual style, navigation, and layout. The website is complemented by a customized service filter, a proprietary search function, and an interactive journey through the history of Lernwerk. A special focus was placed on accessibility. The “Simple Language” feature allows content to be displayed in a simplified version with short sentences and easy-to-understand vocabulary.

Since its launch, we have been managing the website, handling maintenance, updates, and targeted further development. The project demonstrates how Contao can be expanded through custom extensions into a powerful platform for complex and inclusive websites.
