What is special about it

colonius-apartments.com rents out furnished apartments for temporary stays in two locations in Cologne: Werderstraße in the Belgian Quarter and Friesenwall in the Friesen Quarter. Visitors should see right away where they would live and be able to send an enquiry without detours.

The site is bright and image-led; the interior photos sell the apartments. Each of the two buildings has its own overview page, with eight apartment categories from XS to XL below them. Every category page follows the same structure: description, furnishings, pricing details, service, location, availability and floor plan. Anyone comparing two apartments finds each detail in the same place.

Every category page ends with a button leading to the booking enquiry. The form lists all eight categories in a drop-down, has date fields for arrival and departure and lets visitors choose between a business and a private booking. In addition, there is a callback form in the footer of every page. All forms are protected by Altcha, the spam protection built into Contao, without image puzzles and without any Google service.

The website is fully bilingual: both buildings, all categories, the booking enquiry and the photo gallery are also available in English, and the language switcher leads from every page directly to its counterpart.

No third-party service is loaded when a page is opened: the location map is an image, OpenStreetMap only opens on click, and the Lato font is served from the site's own server. The photo gallery "Einblicke" arranges its images in flush rows while keeping every aspect ratio. The gallery and the font come from my own open-source extensions for Contao. The client maintains new apartments and texts in Contao themselves.
